Robert S. Matthews, Certified Public Accountant, began his accounting career in public accounting in 1965 after graduating from C W Post College with a B S in Accounting and joined a medium sized accounting firm in 1968 which subsequently merged into KPMG Peat Marwick. In 1977 he was elected a partner and practiced as a client service partner from 1977 until November 1988 when he left to form Matthews & Co, a firm of certified public accountants dedicated to providing sophisticated personal service to individuals and small to medium size business.
Over the years Robert Matthews has handled a diverse and complex group of clients. He was a nationwide specialist in the audits of brokers and dealers in securities and he was the audit partner in charge of many initial public offerings which helped him develop his expertise in the valuation of business and income producing assets. He helped develop and expand the trust and estate practice and continues to advise many practitioners about judicial accountings and related matters.
As a direct result of his businessman`s approach to clients, he has a large number of small to medium size manufacturing and service companies as clients. He also serves as a trustee and director of some charitable trusts and foundations.
Robert Matthews is married, has 4 children, lives in Manhattan, is a member of the New York Athletic Club, Willow Ridge Golf Club (Harrison, NY) and the Westhampton Bath & Tennis Club on Long Island.
Barry Kitaeff, Certified Public Accountant, began his career in public accounting in 1977 after graduating from the State University of New York at Binghamton with a BS in Accounting in 1975 and St John`s University with an MBA in Taxation in 1977. After joining a medium sized accounting firm in 1978, it subsequently merged into KPMG Peat Marwick where he stayed until 1991 when he joined Matthews & Co.
He has had varied experience with small to medium size businesses including wholesalers, importers, law firms, design firms, and investment companies and has developed a concentration on servicing closely held corporations, entertainment clients, high net worth individuals, and in the areas of estates and trusts.
Barry Kitaeff is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants where he has served on the Individual Taxation Committee.
Martin Weinberg, Certified Public Accountant, began his career in public accounting in 1980 and joined a mid-sized accounting firm in 1983. In 1987, the firm merged to become KPMG Peat Marwick. Martin started Matthews & Co. with Robert Matthews in November 1988.
Martin has dedicated his career to working with small to medium sized companies in a wide range of areas which has diversified his experience. He has worked extensively with industries specializing in not-for-profits, importing, manufacturing, real estate, law firms, medical practices, recruiting firms and hospitality over his 35+ year tenure.
Martin serves as a trusted business advisor to the owners of companies, boards of directors, various individuals and their families.
Martin currently serves as Treasurer of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Westchester/Hudson Valley Chapter.
Ray Sek, Certified Public Accountant, began his career in public accounting in 1995. He joined Matthews & Co after graduating from Pace University with a BBA in Public Accounting in 1998. In 2012 he was elected as a partner.
Ray specializes in providing business advisory and tax consulting/planning services to individuals, family offices, small and medium sized businesses, estates and trusts. His expertise covers various industries including real estate, technology start-ups, not for profits, manufacturing and professional services companies. Ray is known for his innovative, in-depth tax planning expertise as well as the ability to analyze, explain and implement sophisticated techniques to his clients.
Ray is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is fluent in Chinese – Cantonese dialect.
